Committees

Our committees are a primary way that we make an impact in our community. Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary has a variety of committees that serve different organizations and initiatives to ensure support is provided. Explore our current committees and consider becoming a member.

Current Committees

Purpose: Promote Downtown Rotary as a “place where important conversations happen” through the Club’s programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify relevant program topics.

  • Secure speakers and moderators.

  • Provide support to program promotion.

  • Manage external program suggestions.

Chair: Eric S. Erickson

Purpose: Create a welcoming, organized atmosphere to Downtown Rotarians and their guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a smooth and efficient means of checking in, welcoming members and guests, creating a pleasant first impression.

  • Recruit and prepare Rotarians to greet, ensuring two or three are scheduled to welcome and work the registration table each meeting.

  • Run microphone during guest introductions and Q&A portions of the meeting.

  • Identify and schedule people to give invocations at meetings.

Chair: Laura Arnett

Purpose: Attract and grow a club membership consisting of active community leaders that represent the demographic makeup of the city of Sioux Falls. Help re-frame the perception from being “Where important people gather” to “Where important conversations happen.”

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment Strategy

  • Outreach to Potential Members

  • Sponsor Engagement

Chair: Ryan Martin

Purpose: Engage members by providing Rotarians opportunities for community service, fellowship and mentorship outside of weekly meetings.

Organize & Execute a Variety of Monthly Opportunities for:

  • Rotary “In the Know” Events

  • Service Projects

  • Rotary Networking Social Events

Co-Chairs: Dan Kippley & Bob Weisser

Purpose: Develop and execute a strategy that influences internal and external perception of Downtown Rotary as a Top 25 Rotary Club in the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Public Image/Perception

  • Storytelling

  • Media Relations

  • Social Media – maintain and post content on the club's pages

  • Stage Aesthetics

  • Meeting Technology

  • Video/Photography

Chair: Olivia Essig

Purpose: Intentionally engage with members to help connect them to the Rotary mission and other Rotarians.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan quarterly group service activities.

Chair: Sophie Johnson

Purpose: Ensure Downtown Rotarians understand the work of Rotary on a global scale. Invite members to participate in Rotary initiatives beyond the local club.
