October 12
Weekly Meeting
24 Hours on 8th Street
What does a day on 8th Street look like for someone experiencing homelessness in Sioux Falls? “24 Hours on 8th Street” is a local documentary that began with that question and grew into a year-long project exploring homelessness, the resources available to those experiencing it, and the gaps that remain in our community.
On Monday, October 12th, we’ll hear from documentary director Everett Palmer, producer Rudy Navarrete, and Nikki Schoffelman, who helps lead the Wo’okiye Program, which provides outreach services to people experiencing homelessness in Sioux Falls. They’ll discuss the making of the documentary, what they learned about the realities of chronic homelessness in our community, and the people and organizations working every day to provide support and connect individuals with resources.
The buffet lunch begins at 11:30 am. The menu will be:
Chicken & Biscuits
Garlic & Herb-Marinated & Oven-Roasted Chicken
Garlic-Smashed Yukons
White Cheddar & Chive Drop Biscuits
Chicken Gravy
Salad Bar
